I'm starting on this series! Barely watch episode 1 tapi udah suka banget hehehe.... ada kimutaku pula :P
Takuya Kimura is the cool dude as always but his character in this drama is better rounded in the interplay of his family ties. He is often the maverick in his dramas. So it is refreshing to see him as a grudgingly respectful son to his reticent father and a caring, playful bully to his younger brother. Beneath the macho veneer of all three, is an understated love for each other.
His leading lady is not the usual chatty feminine but an ice-cool mechanic that straddles the motorbike. Though her role is rather limited. From the start, both are reluctant to admit their mutual attraction and keep stealing sidelong glances at each other.
The plot (case by case flight incidents and encounters) is not very substantial but carried through by the good performance of the cast. Overall entertaining. Especially if one is a Takuya Kimura’s die-hard (like me) just so to catch his cool vibes!!

arb3i's note:
I heard this is good, but haven't finished watching it. So far, it potrays much about Japanese traditional family rules and traits. hehehe.. Vivian Hsu speaks Japanese very very well. :) cocok juga sama cowonya... yg satu cakep, yg laennya cantik. :)
Will update much later when I finish with this series :P
olrait, just finished it last nite, 04/05/04 :P Bagussssssss deh endingnya :) huhu keren keren :) si Kinchantchun lucu hahaha.... comical banget facenya ;) lucu dia pake baju modern gitu trus nyoba2 depan kaca haha...
Si Shinji sama Nozomi cocok banget banget banget :) mesra pula hihihi.... :P fully recommended dehh :)
In the end, they show how the older brother and his wife come back home. Shinji and Nozomi get the chance to come back to Taiwan, but then somewhat she misses Japan and the family so much. It's a great movie about the importance of family, despite of all the hard work that she needs to do while being the 'Honke' or the daughter in law in the kamisawa family.

Akimahende (No Way!)
Starring: Nakamura Tamao, Uchida Yuki, Fujiwara Norika, Ninomiya Kazunari, Suzuki An
Summary:
Nowadays, kids have their parents wrapped around their fingers. While they appear to despise their parents, they are actually insecure and want someone to give them love, guidance, and support. Although Katsura is sometimes absent-minded, she is a strong, independent woman. Junichiro proposes to her for the second time in 30 years. During this 30-year span, Junichiro was widowed three times, and fathered four children. Katsura agrees to move into the Aoki household as a live-in housekeeper and marry him only if his children learn to love her. This is a comedic and sometimes touching story about Katsura's experiences as she tries, in her own way, to win the children's hearts and trust.

I finally finished this series today! and my comment? A MUST SEE! :)
Very entertaining. Aunt Katsura is soooo funny. Energetic 'old' lady for her age. And she's the heart of this series. The story basically revolves around her, and her kind-heart to take care of those four spoiled-brats. Her aiming is to get their approval so that she could marry the love of her life.
11 Episodes. Dramanya nyantai. Gak terlalu berat. A good one.
Hey at least I cried when the four of them realize how much she meant for the family. hehee..

Seikei Bijin (Artificial Beauty)
Starring: Shiina Kippei, Yonekura Ryoko
Summary:
Honami Saotome (Yonekura Ryoko) is made out of plastic. She's the artificial beauty. Honami seems to have the ideal life, working as a fashion model. Actually, behind her perfect face is a unfortunate girl, born into a family that has a long history of "the ugly bug." During her childhood, she was bullied for being ugly, and dumped tragically by the boy she liked. To bid farewell to all that and start a new life, she decides to have plastic surgery on her entire body. Thanks to her decision, she now leads the life of a princess. Nobody knows that behind her glamorous lifestyle, is a girl afraid that her secret may be found out, or that her face may fall apart. She struggles with her ugly personality that just won't wash away. Though Honami has the inner strength of never giving up, her arrogance of doing anything for her own happiness is just too much.
The other leading character is Ryusui Fujishima (Shiina Kippei), the heir to a grand master of flower arrangement, whose philosophy is, "flower arrangement starts from hating flowers." Within this friendly gentleman who hates formality, is a lonely heart that won't let others in. This is a man that shows no arrogance despite the position he's in. He's actually tired of high society where relationships are just superficial. Ryusui is a man who values essence more than appearance, whether it's flowers or people. Thus, he is attracted not to Honami's looks, but to her tough and bold personality: like a wild flower growing between rocks.

I began to watch this series 2 days ago, and I'm almost done! (1 more episode to go). This series has a pretty interesting storyline indeed. It's about how our looks matters most in society today. Honami was born ugly and unattractive. She has a twin sister, which throughout the entire show, could be the constant reminder of how her face looks like before the overhaul plastic surgery. After the surgery, her life changed upside down, and she even became a model. But later on, when she falls in love with the heir of a grand master florist, she began to question her genuinity. Will he accept her after the truth has been revealed? I shall find out later on episode 11!! hehehe... blon kelar nich :P
Hm so far gue suka character si Honami, meskipun kadang2 suka rada2 hyper dan malu2in :P trus cowonya juga, cool2 kejem gitu hehehe... tampang sombongggg dan pelit senyum, jadi begitu sesekali liat dia smile, waaa.... langsung bisa
[Update 8/13/03]:

From then on, Shuji & Kyoko met each other more often & started to understand each other's thoughts & feelings. Did sparks really fall between them or was it plainly a case of pity & dependency? I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! This is in fact, the first dorama that made me fell in love with Japanese doramas. The story is so touching and so meaningful.
KimuTaku is so greatttt.... love him :) Cewenya juga maennya bagus, as a handicapped person, she plays as if she's really handicapped. No wonder them both got the best actor and actress awards in 1999, and this dorama played in Japan in 2000.

I started watching this drama couple days ago, and was impressed with Takashi Sorimachi *gila cakep aje... hehehe* Prasaan wkt nonton GTO, dia biasa2 aja, and I wasn't really enjoy watching GTO, so I didn't get a good first impression of him. Eh tapinya pas nonton Virgin Road, he plays as a stranger who suddenly met this girl with her problems (pregnant before married), but somehow luckily he has a kind heart :)
He offers to help, to be the father of the baby and to act along in front of Kazumi's dad.
For those of you who don't know the guy, here are some websites:

I'm safe to say that I haven't watched this drama, yet. hehehe... Udah ada sih vcdnya, cuma blon sempet2 nontonnya mulu. BUT, now worries,... I did some research and found out that 80% audience like the show when it was aired in 2001. Kayaknya sih endingnya agak2 sedih ya, mungkin tipe2 Beautiful Life-nya Kimu Taku.
Hmm ga bisa kasih review banyak2, soalnya blon nonton *nyengir*, cuma kalo masih penasaran, baca2 aja dulu ituw site link yg diatas.
Ciao... ;)
